My parents have many flaws, but they are always supportive of me. As far as being a burden to your husband goes, who are they to say such a thing? Do they pay your bills? Does your husband complain about it to them? My husband prefers my working at home (writing), and volunteering my time. He appreciates my availability to our children, and never complains about working hard to pay the bills on his own (EVER). I've often been the one feeling guilty, but hubby inspires me to keep at the dream. So I say to you......Keep writing, you are very good at it!!!! When you are a published author and making a good living, you can rub it in to the unsupportive nay sayers. :-)

I thought I was the only one who considered such details. I make mention of a scarring tradition by a group of soldiers in my novel. I felt that even though it had zero importance to the central plot, it added a lot of realistic depth to that local culture.

Nice article as usual. :)

I think using body modification in fiction can add a lot to characterization if it's done well. One of my favorite characters of all time is especially recognizable because of her tattoo -- the Lady DeWinter in Dumas' The Three Musketeers has the fleurs-de-lis, as the mark of a criminal. Thanks for the comment!

Don't listen to them. They're not writers and don't understand what it's like to have to write. You're doing the right thing by following your dream. Keep it up! :)

I feel the same way sometimes. Embarrassed that I want to be a "writer". But I really try not to let what other people think hinder what I do. ANd I admit I have been lax about writing lately because of those very things. So, I blog. But, I understand what you are saying. You're not alone.

Hello again, thanks for asking for the URLs I mentioned. I'd love to share them.

The first URL- Creative Writing Prompts has over 300 different prompts. http://www.creativewritingprompts.com/

The Second URL- is Wordclay's "self publishing" site, and you will have to scroll down on the right column to find the prompts they list weekly. http://freeself-publishing.com/

The Third URL- I did not mention before is called The Imagination Prompt Generator. http://www.creativity-portal.com/prompts/imagination.prompt.html

My URL- http://zoeforce.wordpress.com/

This morning I decided to use my own prompt idea, and used a personal experience.

I will also list your site in my blogroll. I have enjoyed reading your posts and following your links!

As facilitator of the Beanery Writers Group, I was pleasantly surprised to be noted on someone's "ten great blogs for writers list." We've been working diligently on putting forth a multi-genre online literary magazine. It is nice to be recognized.

NOTE: We are always looking for submissions. Although we do not pay, we do offer a spot for writers, especially beginner writers, to set up a place to send editors to see their writing (gosh, the word escapes me!). Send items to beaneryblog at yahoo.com with the word "SUBMISSION" in the subject line. Thanks! Carolyn C. HOlland
